Frockalishious!!

I've been collecting vintage sewing patterns from the 60's and 70's for quite a few years now
and I'm slowly getting round to making them up.

Here's a couple of summer frocks i whipped up a couple of months ago.

There's plenty more where that came from i'll get them photographed and put up soon.....

Robot In Diguise (as a cake)!

Don't you just love it when you come across something you completely forgot about?
Just last night i was going through some old photos and found a cake that my mum and I baked a couple of years ago for my nephew.

I think this may have been the start of my obsession with making novelty cakes for everyones birthday regardless if they actually want one or not haha.

A Reason To Play With Your Food

Hi guys so last weekend i was helping out at an open day at Badger Press.
Trying to entice people to come down and take a look at the courses
they offer:
 http://badgerpress.org/blog/courses/

And to help lure people down I baked some extra special cupcakes

Everyone seemed to enjoy getting tashtastic!

Inside they had a secret blob of extra nutty chocolate spread.
Im not sure if anyone signed up for a course but all the cupcakes
got eaten so I was happy

Lately I seem to be going into a sewing frenzy
so to feed my habit this weekend i made my brother,
(Who is a massive fan of the skate make Toy Machine)
This Ed Templeton inspired transistor sect monster plush toy/door stop.

Happily stuffed full of sand and fluff.

Now that's one happy camper!!

Im not sure how much time he will spend on the floor holding the door open though

Prints AHOY!

Lately it has come to my attention that i've developed a slight addiction with
mexican day of the dead skulls.
Ive been working on some designs of my own and finally got round to screen printing one.

First attempt with a 3 colour print registration is not my friend

Sticking with one colour just seemed too easy so i tried rainbowing my paints
and remembering to keep my squeegee the right way to avoid a marbling mess.

WOO HOO
finished result not to blow my own trumpet but i'm pretty pleased with the result.

Were gonna party like it's 1980!

My cousin had her 30th birthday the other week and threw an 80's themed fancy dress party.
As usual me and my family spent way too long making our costumes.
Being a big TRON fan i decided to go as Yori
Here's how i made mine.

I made the basic leotard with spandex which is horrible to sew with.
I tried to re-enact the scene with the memory disk
by using the cats food bowl.

Hand painted on the design

Then decided to add some glow in the dark paint to make it extra special

Making the hat from cardboard and lots of PVA

Fancy boot covers made with wadding
and a lot of machine stitching.

tissue paper and even more PVA

hurray finally finished i wont say how long it took let's just say too long
I might look like a gimp but it was worth it!

Super star wars plushies

Welcome to my blog I hope you like what you see.

This weekend we attended the sci fi south collectors fair and in preparation i set my geek factor to warp speed and made some plush pillows, and they went down a treat.

First completed plushie pillow, Greedo

Original Storm trooper

And last but by no means least (peoples choice) Boba fett.

I even got to meet the lovely Paul Blake who played Greedo in Star Wars episode V - A New Hope and i gave him my last plushie and he was ecstatic and requested an Admiral Ackbar which was great.

Oh yes and Chris Barrie was there

Always great to meet a fan

The stall looking a bit sparse after quite a few sales!

I only came home with one lonely storm trooper but also came away
with requests for loads of other characters
Can't wait to sign up for the december show.
